I love this
small model as it epitomizes the small range models created by Lesney.
First issues or possibly preproduction versions were issued in various
shades of light blue and over the years the radiator shell was either
silver or gold. If this model is left out in sunlight it will fade to a
blue shade from the normal grey colour but is easy to differentiate
between a genuine blue and a sun faded one. The model can be found in 2
shades of grey, light and dark, although I have one in a sandy shade. The
dark grey version throws up a very rare variant by having black plastic
wheels and this was again, presumed to be the wheel dies breaking down and
models still to be finished.
The model was only ever issued in the A type box and early models were crimped and later versions rivetted |
